そんなイメージから始まった子です。

顔をそっと隠しながらも、
どこかでじっとこちらを見つめている気配。
気づかれたくない思いを抱えつつ、
その視線はまっすぐ向いてくる——。

喜び、悲しみ、妬み、好き、きらい……
隠したい感情を胸に、
「なんともないふり」をして静かに座っている、あのこ。

制作中は私自身の感情も湧き上がり、
思いをこの子に重ねながらつくっていました。
目が合うと、語りかけてくるようで、
ときどき抱きしめながら、私も癒されていました。

ハグしやすい形と大きさを意識して生まれた作品です。

“That Girl”

“Is she feeling shy?”
This was the first image behind the piece.

She gently hides her face, yet seems to quietly watch from behind.
Holding feelings she wishes to hide—joy, sorrow, jealousy, love—
she sits there as if nothing is wrong.

While creating her, many emotions surfaced in me as well,
and I found myself comforted when our eyes met
or when I hugged her gently.

Her size and shape were made to feel natural to hold.
